VTI now?
« on: July 31, 2018, 10:35:31 PM »
Greetings!

I have been forced to retire early lately via the sudden notice of my company. Fortunately I have no debts and have some savings with me. I've been following Winnie's and your blogs, and thinking of long term investment on VTI for a long while. You inspired me a lot!! Thanks! However, I wonder it is a good timing to pour all my savings on VTI now? Please I need your advice for my next step desperately....

I wouldn't think about timing the market. For the vast majority of people time in the market is much more important than timing and the latter will likely lead to less growth in the long term.

Time is much more important than timing in a long run. Get it. It helps and gives me more confidence doing so! Thanks a lot!!  :)

I don't know if now is a good time. Nobody else does either.

There are 2 approaches to take:
1. Invest all in a target asset allocation now and then ignore it
2. Choose to add a percentage each month for the next n months (DCA)

Both options have their merits.
