Expat life / Taxes in Europe

Hi Jeremy
I have been following your blog for a long time and have learnt a lot from you.
I have seen in your blogs that you might be interested in moving to Spain or France later.
The tax on US based income is quite high in both those countries,
If we have a dividend based off US investments and capital gains that we are hoping to realize.
My SO is European and we prefer to live there but I am quite concerned about the high tax on dividends except portugal. US is friendly for early retirees but i guess the high healthcare costs offsets that. Do you have any information on that?
