Howdy; it's Kendall.  We met in Penang, Malaysia for a meal a couple of years ago.  I have kept up with you through your blog, and enjoyed and learned from your posts; thanks!

Hello!

My husband and I have been hanging out in the background of the FI community for several months now. Following all the blogs, listening to the podcasts, devouring all that we can as we set ourselves up for FI. We are a family of 4 and we are gearing up to travel the world. I have a question: What do you do with all of your important documents like social security cards, birth certificates, etc. while you travel?

Thanks!
Erica

Nice. As for where to keep your important documents, if you have a house you plan on keeping I would of course just keep them there. If you don't then do you have any trustworthy family that can hold on to it? Finally if those aren't an option then maybe paying for a security deposit box at a bank to store your things might be worthwhile?

Saudi isn't too bad. (probably not as bad as you would think).  Since the only thing to do here is going to the mall (which we detest!) We can save 80-85% of our salaries.  We live on a secure compound and it is great for young children.  Very good during the accumulation phase.  We live on the east coast so Bahrain is only a 2-hour drive door-to-door to the hotel we go to.  It is also centrally located to Dubai and Istanbul (major hubs that can take us anywhere).  The biggest hassle with travel is that we can't fly to Qatar.

Hi! So happy to discover this treasure trove of inspiration and information! I sent you an email, Curry Crew, with a query about helping edit and fine tune blog posts. This is a heads up, since I think you check these forums more often than the email. The subject line is "Offer to help edit posts"  :)

Hola! everyone from sunny Mérida, Mexico. Moved here about 4 months ago, after our weird type of FIRE... I'm 56 my wife 50 and son is 13. I never planned on retiring as I own my own business(es) that I LIVED for (classic entrepreneur / workaholic personality), but after realizing that I was missing my son growing up, decided to take the plunge... Found this site, and powering through a lot of the info... Thanks for having me!

Hi all, I joined a while ago.  Long time reader of the blog and forum.
First post is the hardest...

Jeremy, thanks for all the valuable education over the years from your blog!  Without your wisdom helping to guide me, I probably would not have retired last month.

Cheers!

Hello everyone,

I've been following Jeremy and Winnie's blogs since 2013. I first discovered FIRE through them and had been trying to save half. last year finally convinced my hubby to FIRE, sold our house and 1 of our cars since then.

registered the forum last year and this is my first post.. (did I hear someone say the first post is the hardest?)

Thanks!
Sandra

ps. it's currently Father's day in Taiwan so happy father's day to Jeremy and big congrats on the new member to GCC family!

Hello,

This is a pretty cool forum. I met you in Taipei maybe 20 months ago for a coffee. I had questions about investing from abroad and you basically gave me the confidence to invest more, and try to reach financial independence. Thank you.

I know my username says Frugal Expat, but most people call me, Steve.
